The East, T. Nagar

The East – Blogger’s Meet It was a fine week when we were invited to a food blogger’s meet at The East – Courtesy of our friend Sammienatorr (I dare you ask for the history behind that name :P). I was curious at the recent cropping up of Asian restaurants in the city, (Mamagoto is another fine example – We were there too, and my review is here:  Mamagoto, Nungambakkam ). Naturally, we signed up and were there (Surprisingly, this time at least, I was there just some 35 mins late :P) Disclaimer : This review is about 1.5 months old, and I’m sure the restaurant must have improved their fare by a considerable margin by now Location : Beneath Bobby’s Bistro, in North Boag Road Cuisine : Oriental Ambiance : Dimly lit (In fact so dimly lit that not-so-experienced mobile photographers like myself were struggling to get even passable photos) Cozy Segmented to give you a cozy place for catching up or holding on to your privacy Food: Mode of serving here i...

Mamagoto, Nungambakkam

Image
Note: A fellow foodie buddy got an invite to try out Mamagoto in Nungambakkam couple of days back, and he invited us in turn to try it out. The dishes were on the house, but the opinion expressed here is my own. For the new comers, Mamagoto is located in KNK, a uber-premium locality in the super premium Nungambakkam, and their ambiance as well as pricing reflects that. I would be reviewing the dishes that I tried personally (Which is quite big I assure you ! ) Virgin Sangria – Apple –  A whiff of alcohol, thou...

Shaack, Anna Nagar

Image
I’ve been to Shaack in Anna Nagar about 3 or 4 times, and I’ve ordered home delivery from them, another 3 or 4 times over a period of almost 1 year. Except for one instance where their delivery person messed up big time, my experience with Shaack has been consistently phenomenal throughout. Before I go into elaborating my most recent experience, let me tell you one thing about Shaack: Shaack is one place where you just cannot go wrong. Be it their Italian, be it their Pan Asian Cuisine, everything is just perfect. I’m not a big fan of Pan Asian cuisine, but Shaack completely changed my perspective. Now for the experience (I’ll keep it as short as possible, giving you more time to go through the food shots) In our most recent visit, we ordered for: Pho Soup Veg, Cajun Spiced Potato Wedges, Clay Pot Rice Veg, Malay Potato Curry, Tender Coconut Souffle, Red Velvet Cake in a Jar.  In our previous visits, the dish we had enjoyed the most was  Blackened Cottage Cheese ...
