Charminar, Anna Nagar

I recently placed a home delivery order from Charminar in Anna Nagar East, thanks to the rains that prevented me from venturing out.

I had ordered for Mushroom Biryani and Paneer 65 from them.

Mushroom Biryani: OMG ! It’s easily one of the best I’ve tasted so far. I had ordered for a single portion of it, but what I had got instead was something I could have for 2 meals 😀 Generous quantity of Biryani, even more generous quantity of Mushroom set it apart from most others who are quite stingy when it comes to Biryani (Yeah, which evil mastermind does that ?). It was quite spicy, but I’m not gonna complain about that, since it was very much enjoyable.

Paneer 65: Another Wow ! The paneer was quite succulent and the it wasn’t like the usual batter fried Paneer that we regularly get. It was fried, but had been marinaded well before that and the flavor was quite rich in this. Goes without saying, it was spicy as well 😉

Accompaniments: These were actually a bit of a let down, since the gravy and raita accompaniment for the Biryani was quite less for that quantity. Also both of them were quite watery.

Delivery: Slightly delayed, but I was surprised when they actually delivered – reason being the flooded streets. If the flooded streets were enough to shut my 2 wheeler down and block me from venturing out, it was a wonder that they even delivered. A special commendation to the delivery person who made the effort to deliver as quickly as possible in these rains. Totally floored on this side.

Cost: It was Rs. 396 incl. all charges for the Biryani + Paneer 65. Considering the quantity is good for 2 average eaters, I’d say it’s a real steal.

Update : Got a call from the MC’s Lunchbox team, assuring me that they’ll be taking corrective action on this issue and will keep training sessions for their delivery folks (who, it appears, are outsourced) to ensure this doesn’t happen. Kebab Corner, Greams Road

This is somewhat an old review, so I’ll keep it as short as possible. My friend Asif and I went here on a rainy day, straight from office, as he was craving for Kebabs, and wanted to have the best Kebab that he can get in Chennai that night. I checked Zomato, and found this place rated quite high. Though it was a fair distance away from our usual route, we decided to make the trip and we were glad we did. I ordered Malai Paneer tikka, while he went for a Chicken kebab. While I found the Malai paneer tikka decent, it wasn’t anything out of the ordinary. My friend said he found the Chicken kebab extremely good ! So that’s it folks ! The place is quite light on your wallets, total VFM and deserves a 4/5 ! [fb_album id=”1093932570618492″]

Foodie 2015 - Year in Review

Foodie 2015 A fellow foodie buddy of mine Rajiv Shankar started a discussion on reviewing last year from our foodie perspective.
