Papa John's, SP Infocity, Perungudi

It was a fateful day when my friend and I were forced to visit the Papa John’s outlet in SP Infocity, Perungudi. Papa John’s have redefined pocket-friendly by introducing real pocket sized pizzas at abnormal rates so that no one ever asks for pocket friendly options again.

As it was quite late, and even the Subway here had shut down, Papa John’s was the only dinner option left for me and I ordered for 2 Regular sized Veg Pizzas. Rate mentioned in the menu was Rs. 165, incl. taxes, it came to Rs. 200 each, Rs. 400 in total.

Typically when someone says Regular I expect around 8 – 9″. This was super small (as you can see from the picture). I was shell-shocked at the size.

Taste: I honestly couldn’t feel any taste in their pizzas either. It was just hot, with some cheese and veggies thrown in haphazardly.

Service: Though it’s technically self-service, the attitude of the person manning the billing counter was quite bad. When I tried to order for a normal Garlic Bread, he tried to force me to take the costlier version of the Garlic bread (which incidentally is priced 2x of the normal one, just for the added cheese). When I refused, he said they don’t have the plain Garlic bread.

I wasn’t even provided a bill for this order. He conveniently ‘forgot’ the bill and later claimed the machine isn’t working.

I’ve been to Papa John’s Nungambakkam outlet when they opened a few years back and comparing the two, I feel they’ve dropped into a deep pit.

In the end, I’m as hungry as I was before visiting the place, just Rs.400 poorer
