Grill Ministri, Mogappair

We went for a family outing here. We opted for the Dinner Buffet. We started off with the soup. Before I proceed further, I should point out that the buffet has both Veg/Non Veg options and you can take any of it or if you’re a great foodie, you can take all of it. The tomato soup served to us was too watery compared to the other places I’ve been to, but it tasted ok. Being a vegetarian mostly, I opted for the vegetarian dishes on the buffet. The starters were fine. I loved the paneer tikka. But few people in my family felt that the paneer was over-burnt. The veg seekh kabab was pretty good. The gravies were the highlight, as all of them tasted pretty well. The rice was decent.

Now coming to the service part. Breads are the part of the buffet, which we’ve to order. We had to ask for the breads to 3 different people in order to get them. The same was the case when we had to ask for the breads again. And in the buffets I’ve been to, they generally keep refilling the items and restocking the cutlery when they run out. But that wasn’t the case here. Standing there in the buffet line, we had to remind them quite a few times for them to refill. In fact, we got to taste one of the starters after we were through with our main course. And few people got to taste only one starter until they refilled them near the end. This is something the management has to take care of.

Desserts were lovely. And at least, they kept refilling the desserts more often than they did for the rest of the items, but still, this needs to be improved.

Overall, it was a very good experience as the taste mostly compensated for everything else.

Points to be noted:

  1. Improve the service. I don’t think a customer would enjoy having to ask ‘n’ times for breads, which are a part of the buffet after all.
  2. The buffet items should be constantly refilled. Refilling after a customer requesting for the same multiple times to different persons is not a good experience; It leaves a bad impression.
  3. And in certain cases, my family members felt that some of the waiters are showing attitude. This was noticeable when they didn’t even acknowledge the request for our breads or a refill for water. They simply ignored us and concentrated on the a la carte orders.

Overall rating:

Quantity: 4 / 5 (Technically it should be 5, but since the items weren’t refilled promptly, had to remove one).

Taste: 3.5/5

Cost/VFM: 4.5/5

Service: 3.5/5 (Again, technically this should be 5, but was reduced for the attitude shown by couple of waiters).

Ambience: 4.5/5

Total: 4 / 5

I would definitely give them another try as it was a mixed experience.

P.S: The manager there compensated for the waiters’ behaviour actually(knowing or unknowingly) as he was quite friendly towards us.
