Krishnavilasam, Nungambakkam

I had this sudden urge to taste yummilicious South Indian saapadu (meals) sometime back and I was looking at ‘authentic’ places (fate of the present) that serve a great Andhra cuisine.

We zeroed in on Krishnavilasam since it was in our list for a while and I wanted to try it out.

So we called them up and checked about the availability, and made the move. When we went there, we were greeted politely by the stewards and made to sit comfortably on our table.

The ambiance was quite pleasant for the time which was neither afternoon, nor evening and we started relaxing a bit, while we waited for them to take our order.

After some deliberation, we ordered a Vazhapoo Vada and Krishnavilasam Saapadu.

Vazhapoo Vada: At Rs. 135 per plate, for 2 pieces of Vada, I really miss to see what is so special about this one. The vada tasted the usual and I really missed the point where it deserves to be priced that high.

Krishnavilasam Saapadu: Usual fare of meals, nothing special, and most definitely not a VFM choice, considering it costs 285 per head.

The worst part of the meals is that they advertise themselves as Andhra Cuisine, but they didn’t have Podis to go with the meals. The meals was also quite bland, not like the spicy fare you’d expect from a Andhra meal.

Service: No complaints here, they paid enough attention to us without being too pushy and were quite friendly when we enquired about our options.

Rating:

Taste: 3.5/5
VFM: 1.5/5
Service: 3.5/5
Quantity – Starters: 3/5
Quantity – Meals: N/A (Unlimited)
Ambiance: 3.5/5

Overall: 3/5

I wouldn’t mind trying this again, but before that happens, I’ll try to prepare myself for a pricey, non VFM, average affair.
