Cafe Coffee Day (CCD) - The Square, Nungambakkam

I went to Cafe Coffee Day (CCD) – The Square in Khadar Nawaz Khan Road, Nungambakkam couple of days back, to meet some new friends from Headstart Network and to discuss about Headstart Chennai Chapter.

Since I reached a bit early, thanks to me living less than 6 Kms from the place, while the rest had to come from the other end of the city in the evening traffic, I ordered for Veg. Momos and Mocha Square to kill time.

Veg Momos: Dry, but otherwise tasted decent. But they were most definitely overpriced at approx. Rs. 170. Heck, I could get much better momos for Rs. 55 near my home in Anna Nagar.

Mocha Square: Bleh. I thank god I didn’t take my GF over here. She would have poured the coffee on my face and broke the cup over my head. It was a grave sin committed against coffee.

Description says this: The espresso with swirls of chocolate sauce topped with steamed and foamed milk.

Reality: It was thanni (water) with some amounts of coffee podi (powder) and milk added to it, with chocolate sauce added at the bottom of the cup just for the sake of it – Took our Tamil word Kaapi Thanni (Literally translated as Coffee Water) to a whole new level ! Priced at around Rs. 170, it was a total waste of money.

Service: No complaints here, they were there when we needed, otherwise stayed out of our way.

Please don’t go here for food or coffee. It’s a good place to meet, having its own board room as well.

Update : Got a call from the MC’s Lunchbox team, assuring me that they’ll be taking corrective action on this issue and will keep training sessions for their delivery folks (who, it appears, are outsourced) to ensure this doesn’t happen. Kebab Corner, Greams Road

This is somewhat an old review, so I’ll keep it as short as possible. My friend Asif and I went here on a rainy day, straight from office, as he was craving for Kebabs, and wanted to have the best Kebab that he can get in Chennai that night. I checked Zomato, and found this place rated quite high. Though it was a fair distance away from our usual route, we decided to make the trip and we were glad we did. I ordered Malai Paneer tikka, while he went for a Chicken kebab. While I found the Malai paneer tikka decent, it wasn’t anything out of the ordinary. My friend said he found the Chicken kebab extremely good ! So that’s it folks ! The place is quite light on your wallets, total VFM and deserves a 4/5 ! [fb_album id=”1093932570618492″]

Foodie 2015 - Year in Review

Foodie 2015 A fellow foodie buddy of mine Rajiv Shankar started a discussion on reviewing last year from our foodie perspective.
