New Yorkers, Nungambakkam

This review of New Yorkers is at least few months old, so please bear with me.

I’ve been to New  Yorkers couple of times in the past, and while my first experience can be considered bad, my second experience was pretty good. Hence the mixed rating.

During our first visit, we had ordered Jalapeno Cheese Poppers, Chimichanga, Penne Arabiatta and Mashed Potatoes (It’s missing from the menu now).

Our not-so-pleasant experience with service started here, with the steward insisting we order whatever we want right away, since it was around 2.25 PM and he didn’t want to pass any last minute orders to Kitchen, telling us they would be closing it by 3. First came the poppers, which was absolutely mind blowing, and not too spicy. It set our expectations high.

Chimichanga followed the poppers, and was decent, though the poppers had already raised the bar high, a bar which Chimichanga couldn’t meet sadly.

While we were relishing these starters, our Arabiatta and Mashed Potatoes arrived in quick succession, and the steward was in a hurry to dump them on our plates, though we insisted we’ll help ourselves to the food, he was still insisting on serving it. I told him “Ok give us 5 mins, we’ll finish the starters and then start with these”. I’m not sure if he deliberately ignored me, or he didn’t hear me, but he just started serving the 2 dishes on our plates, with the starters still present, and as the damage was already done, I just let out a sigh, and left it without further ado.

While the Arabiatta was lovely, Mashed Potatoes were somewhat a let down, though they were quite heavy on the tummy.

The second time I was in New Yorkers was for catching up with a bunch of friends, and during this time, they had some combos running, which we tried. Naturally with a group of friends, this experience was really nice, with the food being quite good.

Update : Got a call from the MC’s Lunchbox team, assuring me that they’ll be taking corrective action on this issue and will keep training sessions for their delivery folks (who, it appears, are outsourced) to ensure this doesn’t happen. Kebab Corner, Greams Road

This is somewhat an old review, so I’ll keep it as short as possible. My friend Asif and I went here on a rainy day, straight from office, as he was craving for Kebabs, and wanted to have the best Kebab that he can get in Chennai that night. I checked Zomato, and found this place rated quite high. Though it was a fair distance away from our usual route, we decided to make the trip and we were glad we did. I ordered Malai Paneer tikka, while he went for a Chicken kebab. While I found the Malai paneer tikka decent, it wasn’t anything out of the ordinary. My friend said he found the Chicken kebab extremely good ! So that’s it folks ! The place is quite light on your wallets, total VFM and deserves a 4/5 ! [fb_album id=”1093932570618492″]

Foodie 2015 - Year in Review

Foodie 2015 A fellow foodie buddy of mine Rajiv Shankar started a discussion on reviewing last year from our foodie perspective.
